Our story

For the Cogswell family, building isn't just a business—it’s our history. Both born and raised right here in Charlotte County, we’ve watched our community grow, and we’ve been proud to help build it.

Our founder, Shane, began his journey in 1998, framing homes in PGI under the mentorship of his stepfather for Towles Corp. For over a decade, he mastered the "bones" of residential construction from the ground up. When his stepfather retired, Shane transitioned into launching his own handyman service while simultaneously serving as a supervisor for West Coast Builders—another well-known name in the PGI area.

These years of leadership and hands-on problem solving led Shane to earn his State Certified License in 2020. That was the year we restructured into a dedicated residential remodeling company: Cogswell Construction.

There is a very good chance that if your home was built in the PGI area between 1998 and 2023, Shane was personally involved in its construction. He doesn't just understand remodeling; he knows the specific "ins and outs" of how these local homes were put together. Today, we use that foundational knowledge to specialize in high-end kitchen and bath renovations.

When we aren't on a job site, you’ll likely find us out in Charlotte Harbor fishing, boating, watching Punta Gorda beautiful sunsets, or enjoying the shops and restaurants downtown. We love this community, and we love helping our neighbors fall in love with their homes all over again.
